X Combinator is a vertical agritech incubation programme. It selects and supports early-stage projects that bring concrete innovation to agriculture: how we grow, how we farm, and how we process food. Because Because you cannot truly innovate food without innovating agriculture first.
Today, too many food solutions focus only on the final stage of the value chain, without addressing how raw materials are grown, processed, and made more sustainable.
Incubation programme
If you are building an agritech solution and want to test it in the real world, X Combinator is first and foremost a shared working environment rather than just a programme format. We work side by side with teams to test, validate, and move forward concrete solutions for the agrifood system.
The programme is designed to provide tools, expertise and access to a truly operational ecosystem.
The Call for Applications is conceived and promoted by Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena, *beeco and Università di Siena.
Not a typical food accelerator
We do not see agriculture as a “traditional” sector that simply needs a layer of digitalisation. We see it as a complex system that must be rethought more deeply. That requires joined-up thinking across farming, industry, and research.
Impact
Key milestones
The journey is marked by four in-person events, each designed as a key milestone: Kick-off Day, Review, Checkpoint and Demo Day. These moments bring teams together to assess progress, align on next steps, and sharpen their strategy.
Network
AN OPERATIONAL ECOSYSTEM
Incubated projects will work alongside farmers, consortia, industry players, and key actors across the agrifood value chain. They will have access to guided visits, field testing, and structured exchanges with leading partners such as ToSeed, ISIRES, and ENEA, who bring expertise, connections, and concrete opportunities.

A clear structure
Throughout the programme, teams work on their projects and join online check-ins with assigned Champions and expert mentors. The work is organised into sprints, with homework and clear deliverables designed to tackle critical challenges step by step and support better decision-making.
